Straightening and Balancing Machine for Shafts and Rotors
Overview of SINOTEST Straightening and Balancing Systems
Specifically, SINOTEST straightening and balancing machines provide integrated solutions for correcting shaft deformations and eliminating rotor imbalances. In general, these systems address two critical challenges in precision manufacturing: geometric inaccuracies and rotational unbalance. For this reason, combining straightening and balancing capabilities in a single solution not only streamlines production but also ensures each component meets rigorous performance and longevity standards. As a result, our advanced technologies help manufacturers reduce scrap rates, minimize rework, and boost overall productivity across automotive, aerospace, energy, and general engineering sectors.
As a subsidiary of SINOMACH GROUP, one of the world’s top 500 state-owned enterprises, SINOTEST has set over 160 national and industry standards for testing instruments. Consequently, our straightening and balancing machines benefit from decades of research, development, and practical application across thousands of installations worldwide.
Straightening Machine: CNC Automatic Correction for Shafts and Bars
Typically, a SINOTEST automatic straightening machine is used to correct bending deformation in shafts, bars, and tubes caused by heat treatment or machining processes. First, it employs a high-precision displacement sensor to measure the workpiece’s radial runout at multiple points. After that, our Correcting Intelligence System (CIS) analyzes the measurement data and calculates the optimal correction points and depths. Finally, the system applies precise pressure through a servo‑controlled hydraulic cylinder, delivering correction cycles as fast as 3‑6 seconds per shaft.
Furthermore, key features include:
- High correction accuracy: Achieves a straightness accuracy up to ±0.02mm (0.02mm) for most shaft workpieces.
- Maximum correction limit protection: Prevents over‑correction and avoids breaking or fracturing the workpiece.
- Flexible workpiece handling: Machines handle shaft lengths from 60mm up to 25,000mm, with force capacities from 5kN to 10,000kN, accommodating diverse part sizes.
- Automation integration ready: Systems support robotic loading, automatic sequencing, and MES communication for fully automated production lines.
In terms of compliance, our straightening systems comply with ISO 12100 for machinery safety and the Chinese national standard Q/CSS23-2006 for automatic shaft straightening machines. Additionally, we offer several series to match specific application requirements: JEC series for shafts bent by heat treatment, JES series for piston rods and half‑shafts, and custom gantry‑type machines for extra‑long workpieces.
Balancing Machine: Dynamic Unbalance Correction for Rotating Components
Furthermore, our automatic balancing machine performs dynamic balance testing and correction for a wide range of rotating components. First, the system spins the workpiece at a specified speed while high‑sensitivity sensors measure vibration and compute the magnitude and angular position of any unbalance. Then, the machine automatically applies correction by removing material (milling/drilling), adding weight (welding), or moving internal balancing mechanisms.
Our balancing solutions cover diverse applications:
- Small high‑speed rotors: H1BK hard‑bearing balancer for micro‑motors, turbochargers, and small automotive air‑conditioning rotors (workpiece mass up to 10kg, URR ≥95%).
- Medium‑sized industrial rotors: H4U series for motors, blowers, diesel engine shafts, centrifuges, and machine tool spindles (workpiece mass up to 1000kg, diameter up to 1600mm).
- Propeller shafts and drive shafts: MBB series dedicated balancer for automotive and industrial propeller shafts (mass range 5‑100kg, length up to 2400mm).
- Dual‑channel precision balancer: SDK‑AT20S series for axial and centrifugal fans (blade diameter 20‑90mm) with automatic loading/unloading, automated glue‑dispensing weight correction, and URR ≥90%.
In particular, key performance parameters include: Minimum achievable residual unbalance per plane down to 0.05g·mm/kg, unbalance reduction ratio (URR) up to 95%, and balancing speeds from 600 to 5600r/min depending on rotor size.
Moreover, the balancing process strictly follows ISO 1940‑1 standards for rotor balance quality grades. For most general industrial applications, balance quality grade G6.3 is appropriate; however, for more demanding automotive or turbine applications, grades G2.5 or G1.0 can be specified.
Quality and Compliance
All SINOTEST straightening and balancing machines are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems. In addition, the company holds 120 patents, including 61 invention patents, and has led the formulation of 30 national standards and 42 industry standards. For European market compliance, CE certification is available for machines requiring it.
