The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has used this testing method to test IBCs and verify their suitability for transporting hazardous materials. This testing method is used to determine the integrity of the intermediate bulk container and prevent leakage or spillage of its contents during transportation. This testing method should be used as a screening tool or for designing identification tests. Other vibration methods can simulate the vibrations experienced during transportation more closely.<\/li>\n\n \t<li>This testing method is applicable for testing IBCs ranging from 450 to 3000 L (119 to 793 gal). Smaller sized packaging should be tested using Test Method ASTM D999 or other applicable methods.<\/li>\n\n \t<li>ISO2247 standard may not meet the requirements of this testing method.<\/li>\n\n \t<li>Values expressed in SI units are considered standard values. The values given in parentheses are for reference only.<\/li>\n\n \t<li>This standard is not intended to address all safety issues related to its use (if any). Users of this standard are responsible for establishing appropriate safety and health practices and determining the applicability of regulatory restrictions prior to use.
